Welcome to Give Attendance to Reading, with Max and Charlie Taylor. This podcast was born out of our love for reading and discussing theology and Christian ministry, and it has grown to include topics such as culture, geo-politics, and practical Christian living. Our goal is to cover the best books in Christian literature, one chapter at a time. By listening in each week, not only will you hear a summary of each book, but you will also get commentary on the topics discussed along with our take on how to apply the information to our everyday lives. Thanks for listening, let’s get into it!

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
We start the investigation into the Sabbath by looking at Genesis 1:1 for an entire chapter (it actually extends into the next chapter as well). One of the best lines from this reading was, “Work finds purpose when it moves toward rest; rest finds holiness when it reflects the Creator’s own pause” (16). Everything from creation to history having purpose to God being outside of time and space, is intended to point us to God and reveal who he is to us.
Next week we will discuss chapter 2 of Stop, In the Name of God.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
Today we cover the foreword, prologue, and introduction to Charlie Kirk’s seminal work before his assassination. We talk about Charlie’s legacy, friendship with Dennis Prager (who this book is dedicated to), relationship with Erika Kirk, and his mission to restore people back to life as God designed based on Scripture. Joining us to introduce the book is our sister. Are we striving to hold our lives together or are we surrendering to God’s plan for us?
Next week we will discuss chapter 1 of Stop, In the Name of God. Just a heads-up, this will be the longest and probably the deepest chapter in the book, so start reading it early in the week.

In Season 3, we are reading Stop, In the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life by Charlie Kirk. We are excited to read from an author who was so devoted to his Christian faith on a topic that is so needed. May this not just be an interesting read, but a soul-refreshing practice that we can adopt for the rest of our lives. We are thankful you would listening and/or read along with us.

Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
We so appreciate John Bunyan’s realistic description of the danger of backsliding and facing fears of death and disappointing God. This reading details our pilgrims’ final two challenges before entering the celestial city. Next week we will finish the book and share some personal takeaways.
Next week we will discuss pages 212-218 of Pilgrim’s Progress.

Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
Some who profess faith in Christ fall into one of these two fallacies discussed in this section: putting confidence in good deeds or merely positing a faith in Jesus without any commitment to Him (which commitment is required in the definition of true faith). Christian and Hopeful have a profitable discussion with Ignorance and amongst themselves as they continue in their journey through the Enchanted Forest.
Next week we will discuss pages 204-212 to “The Happiness of Heaven Described” of Pilgrim’s Progress.

Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
Most of the reading today covers the conversation between Christian and Hopeful about Hopeful’s conversion story. There are so many good reminders from this portion, especially the fact that we should be eager to share our own conversion story with those around us. We hope this episode encourages you to do so.
Next week we will discuss pages 194-204 to “Manner of Backsliding” of Pilgrim’s Progress.

Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
Christian and Hopeful are faced with one test after another on this leg of their journey, but they continue to make progress towards the City of Zion. This section is a good reminder that regardless of any failures you may have encountered this past week, continue to walk by faith, pursue God’s Word, and be mindful of the danger of turning aside from Him, even just a little bit.
Next week we will discuss pages 183-194 to “Good Thoughts” of Pilgrim’s Progress.

Our Approach
Everything we read and discuss is always filtered through our Christian worldview and 'taylored' (pun intended) specifically for other followers of Christ. So whether you are a lay Christian who enjoys Christian devotional literature or training for ministry yourself, we hope these discussions will be edifying to you. Throughout the show, we plan to cover a mixture of devotional, doctrinal, and Jewish history works.
