Letters to Auntie Fori by Martin Gilbert

 

Modern pop culture is divided on the issue of the Jews being God’s chosen people, but God’s Word is clear. Today we revisit the history of God’s promises to Abraham, the miraculous birth of Isaac, and the descendants and a name change that brings about the formation of the people of Israel—the same people who are in the land of Israel today.

Letters to Auntie Fori by Martin Gilbert

 

Today we discuss the introduction to this book, which explains how Martin Gilbert met Auntie Fori, as well as his first three letters to her, detailing creation, Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, and Noah. We get a review of the biblical account as well as some extra-biblical Jewish tradition in these opening pages.

Charlie Kirk closes out his book with some practical ideas on how to implement the sabbath into each week. While most of his ideas are not bad, they are lacking and insufficient for the believer, as we discuss. We must be careful not to make the day of worship about ourselves or too mystical, but we should instead use this time to center our thoughts and direction on the way of Christ.
