Welcome to Give Attendance to Reading, with Max and Charlie Taylor. This podcast was born out of our love for reading and discussing theology and Christian ministry, and it has grown to include topics such as culture, geo-politics, and practical Christian living. Our goal is to cover the best books in Christian literature, one chapter at a time. By listening in each week, not only will you hear a summary of each book, but you will also get commentary on the topics discussed along with our take on how to apply the information to our everyday lives. Thanks for listening, let’s get into it!

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
Sleep is part of God’s design for us, and yet, our culture glorifies running on less and less sleep. Technology ties us up later into the night. And functioning without sleep gives us the illusion of self-sufficiency. All of this is counter to God’s plan, and the answer is to respond with faith in God’s provision and rest in Him through a disciplined sleep schedule. We hope this conversation helps you reorder your schedule. We are confident you will benefit physically and spiritually if you do.
Next week we will discuss chapter 8 of Stop, In the Name of God.
Our next book is going to be Letters to Auntie Fori by Martin Gilbert

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
Just as Jesus said, the sabbath is for man’s benefit, not the other way around. Today we discuss some of the many benefits that come when we take a break from the busy routine of life for one day each week in order to find deeper meaning in Christ. At first, the call to take a break from our phones and create a rest from our work may seem daunting, but it is actually freeing.
Next week we will discuss chapter 7 of Stop, In the Name of God.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
Beyond anti-racism, the earth, and self, there are three additional counterfeit religions discussed in this chapter—scientism, consumerism, and power. Each of these offers a false sense of security and robs us of worshipping God. Until we set our hearts on worshipping God, we will not see the benefit of honoring the sabbath.
Next week we will discuss chapter 6 of Stop, In the Name of God.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
Why do we worship things other than God? What happens when we focus only on ourselves? How are the anti-racism and climate control movements religious causes? What should our generation do in light of modern-day idolatry? All of these questions come up in this discussion over chapter 4 of this book.
Next week we will discuss chapter 5 of Stop, In the Name of God.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
Join us as we walk through history from creation to the present to see how the sabbath has been followed and interpreted at different stages down through time. This is not merely a passive rest or recreation, it is a taste of the future Messianic Age, a rest from creating or striving, and an intentional choice for presence and consecration.
Next week we will discuss chapter 4 of Stop, In the Name of God.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
Faith in God is reasonable, and we happen to have evidence and arguments on our side from every discipline of study. Today we get into a discussion on the absurdity of atheism and the warrant for creationism. This is something we desperately need to understand in our lie-saturated culture. Belief in the God of the Bible is a warranted claim that is accepted as evidence all on its own. We can confidently believe the Word of God.
Next week we will discuss chapter 3 of Stop, In the Name of God.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
We start the investigation into the Sabbath by looking at Genesis 1:1 for an entire chapter (it actually extends into the next chapter as well). One of the best lines from this reading was, “Work finds purpose when it moves toward rest; rest finds holiness when it reflects the Creator’s own pause” (16). Everything from creation to history having purpose to God being outside of time and space, is intended to point us to God and reveal who he is to us.
Next week we will discuss chapter 2 of Stop, In the Name of God.

Stop, In the Name of God by Charlie Kirk
Today we cover the foreword, prologue, and introduction to Charlie Kirk’s seminal work before his assassination. We talk about Charlie’s legacy, friendship with Dennis Prager (who this book is dedicated to), relationship with Erika Kirk, and his mission to restore people back to life as God designed based on Scripture. Joining us to introduce the book is our sister. Are we striving to hold our lives together or are we surrendering to God’s plan for us?
Next week we will discuss chapter 1 of Stop, In the Name of God. Just a heads-up, this will be the longest and probably the deepest chapter in the book, so start reading it early in the week.

Our Approach
Everything we read and discuss is always filtered through our Christian worldview and 'taylored' (pun intended) specifically for other followers of Christ. So whether you are a lay Christian who enjoys Christian devotional literature or training for ministry yourself, we hope these discussions will be edifying to you. Throughout the show, we plan to cover a mixture of devotional, doctrinal, and Jewish history works.
